VPN support shouldn't be so difficult to do if you really want it (which means you do it yourself, of course). Crosscompiling openvpn is probably the easy part, the most work would be to write an app to have a UI to store the data and control openvpn, but even that is like a day or so. There are also quite a few DLNA applications for Linux that could be adapted.
