I'm also against having Google on my phone (and any unnessecary background services). Google Play Services are already annoying enough on Android devices... Most Android apps work well and you'll find most (in my case even local-) apps in other app stores. The problem is that some developers make their apps dependant on Google Play Services (don't ask me how that makes an app better other than for push notifications) and often don't add an option to turn that feature off. Unfortunately not only Jolla users are affected by that, but also those who use for example a modded Android version (like Cyanogenmod). At least not that many apps are affected by that problem yet. Others like Google Maps also run without mentioned services.
